Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

Delta Eta Sigma Alumnae Chapter
  |

Founded in 1939, Rhoers are young girls, ages 12 to 18, organized on a local, regional and national level. The Rhoer affiliates are working to help other young people while they learn about their heritage, strive for academic success and develop leadership skills. Sigma Gamma Rho is dedicated to helping Rhoers to grow to be women of substance dedicated to service.

In 1980 the Philos were organized on a national level and have grown to represent hundreds of women organized on a regional level as well. The Philos have contributed countless hours of community service and thousands of dollars to aid Sigma Gamma Rho's aim to enhance the quality of life within every community.

The group was organized because the Sorority realized that there were women of the highest caliber living and working in their communities who did not have a four-year college degree. The Philo affiliate was a way of uniting these women and having them take part in such activities that would strengthen Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and improve civic and community conditions as well as work to help develop and support educational and cultural services among the sorority’s youth affiliates.

RHOSEBUD CLUB

The Rhosebud Club is an affiliate group comprising a diverse group of girls ages 8 through 11. Delicate like the petals of a rosebud, this affiliate group is handled with special care and attention. Sigma Gamma Rho seeks to play a role in helping to cultivate girls as they grow into young ladies who are well-rounded and will embody the qualities needed to be good students and productive citizens. We feel this can be best achieved through action that will contribute to the overall well-being of the Rhosebud.
